This Privacy Policy explains how Peekscribe collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal data when you use peekscribe.com and related platform services (collectively, the "Service"). Peekscribe is a Peekwire brand.

If you purchase a featured placement, the Featured Placement Agreement describes placement-specific obligations. This Policy explains how we handle personal data across the Service. Our Terms of Service also apply. Featured placement customers should also read the Data Processing Addendum.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

This Policy applies to:

  • Website visitors who browse peekscribe.com or related platform pages;
  • Featured placement customers who receive preview or payment links, complete checkout, or communicate with us about a publication placement;
  • Reader contact flow submitters who submit information through a reader contact form on a publication hosted via Peekscribe.

Peekscribe is an invite-only platform. We do not offer public self-serve accounts on peekscribe.com.

2. Roles: Controller and Processor

Depending on how you interact with the Service, different parties may determine how personal data is used:

  • For peekscribe.com platform operations, billing, and support, Peekscribe generally acts as the data controller.
  • For reader contact flow submissions on a publication, the publication operator and featured expert typically act as the data controller for follow-up communications, and Peekscribe acts as a service provider or processor to route and store submissions as needed to operate the flow.

3. Personal Data We Collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact data, such as name, email address, business name, and support messages you send us.
  • Placement and publication data, such as preview access activity, publication configuration, profile and interview materials, domain selections, and go-live status.
  • Payment data, such as transaction identifiers, payment status, amounts, and billing contact details. Full payment card numbers are processed by Dodo Payments and are not stored on Peekscribe systems.
  • Reader contact flow data, such as email address, answer choices, free-text responses, and submission timestamps.
  • Technical and usage data, such as IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps, and diagnostic logs used for security and reliability.
  • Communications, including email threads related to placement setup, approvals, and support.

4. How We Use Personal Data

We use personal data to:

  • operate peekscribe.com and platform services;
  • provide preview links, checkout, placement setup, publishing, and reader contact flows;
  • procure, configure, and operate domains and hosting when included;
  • process featured placement payments and related billing events;
  • prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents;
  • improve reliability, quality, and user experience;
  • communicate about previews, payments, go-live, renewals, and support;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

5. Featured Placement Customers

If you are invited to a featured placement, we use your contact information and placement materials to deliver the Service described in the Featured Placement Agreement. This includes sending preview links, processing payment, setting up your profile page, operating the publication, and communicating about renewals or term end.

We retain placement records for as long as needed to provide the Service, meet legal and accounting requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

6. Reader Contact Flow Submissions

If you submit a reader contact form on a publication powered by Peekscribe, your submission is shared with the publication operator and featured expert so they can respond. The publication operator controls how they use your data after receipt and is responsible for its own legal basis, notices, and outreach compliance.

Peekscribe processes reader submissions only as needed to operate the flow, deliver notifications, maintain logs, and secure the platform. To exercise privacy rights related to follow-up communications, contact the publication operator listed on that publication where possible, or contact us and we will help route your request.

7. Legal Bases (Where Applicable)

If GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, our legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests (such as security, fraud prevention, and service reliability), compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required.

8. Payment Processing (Dodo Payments)

Featured placement payments are processed by Dodo Payments. Dodo Payments may collect payment method details and billing information under its own privacy terms. Peekscribe receives limited billing data such as payment status, transaction identifiers, and amounts needed to operate placements and support customers.

9. Domain and Infrastructure Providers

When domain or hosting services are used, we may share necessary operational information with registrars, DNS providers, hosting providers, and email delivery providers to perform registration, configuration, maintenance, and issue resolution.

10. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal data. We may share data with:

  • service providers that host, secure, and operate our platform;
  • payment processors, including Dodo Payments;
  • domain, DNS, hosting, and email providers needed to run publications;
  • publication operators and featured experts when you submit reader contact flow responses intended for them;
  • analytics and monitoring providers used to maintain reliability and security;
  • authorities or counterparties when required by law, court order, or legal process;
  • successors in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale.

11. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies and similar technologies for session continuity, security, and basic product diagnostics. Where required by law, we request consent before using non-essential cookies. You can control cookies through browser settings, but disabling some cookies may affect functionality.

12. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type, placement status, and legal requirements.

As a general approach, placement and billing records are kept for the duration of the placement term plus a reasonable compliance period. Reader contact flow submissions are retained until deleted by the publication operator, no longer needed for the intended workflow, or removed under applicable law.

13. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than where you reside. Where required, we implement safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as contractual protections.

14. Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

15. Communications and Marketing Choices

You can opt out of non-essential marketing communications by following unsubscribe instructions or contacting us. Transactional messages related to previews, payments, go-live, security, and support may still be sent.

16. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to request data portability. To exercise your rights, contact us at the email below. We may need to verify your identity and coordinate with publication operators where they control certain data.

California residents may have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws, including rights to know, access, delete, correct, and limit certain disclosures. Peekscribe does not sell personal information for money and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

17. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
